Connect Claude & ChatGPT to TailorTalk

TailorTalk has an MCP server, so AI assistants like Claude and ChatGPT can read your TailorTalk account and answer questions about it. Ask "Which leads asked about pricing this week?" or "Why did some messages in yesterday's broadcast fail?", and the assistant looks it up in your agents, leads and campaigns for you.

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is the open standard these assistants use to connect to other apps. There's nothing to install: you add TailorTalk's server address to your AI app and sign in with your TailorTalk account.

What the Assistant Can Do

Once connected, the assistant can read what you can see on your TailorTalk dashboard:

  • Organizations and agents: your organizations, their agents, each agent's setup and tools, and past versions of its prompt.
  • Leads and conversations: find and filter leads, read a lead's full conversation, and search your contacts.
  • Campaigns and broadcasts: your campaigns, your broadcasts with the delivery status of each message, and your WhatsApp templates.
  • Webhooks: recent deliveries of your agent's webhooks, including the failed ones.
  • Support tickets: the tickets you raised with TailorTalk about an agent.
  • TailorTalk guides: these guides, to answer "how do I set up…" questions.

The assistant can only read. It can't send messages, change your agents or update your leads.

Step 1: Add TailorTalk to Your AI App

Claude (claude.ai and the Claude desktop app)

  1. Open Customize > Connectors.
  2. Click +, then Add custom connector.
  3. Name it TailorTalk, paste the server URL https://api.tailortalk.ai/mcp and click Add. Leave Advanced settings empty.
  4. Claude opens TailorTalk so you can sign in (Step 2). If it doesn't, click Connect next to TailorTalk in Customize > Connectors.

Custom connectors work on every Claude plan, and the Free plan allows one. On a Team or Enterprise plan, an owner adds the connector once in Organization settings > Connectors, then each member clicks Connect on it in Customize > Connectors. For more, see Claude's guide to custom connectors.

A connector added on claude.ai also works in the Claude desktop app and in Claude Code when you're signed in with the same Claude account.

ChatGPT

Custom apps need ChatGPT's developer mode, available on the Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Edu plans, on the web.

  1. Open Settings > Security and login and turn on Developer mode.
  2. In ChatGPT's apps, click + to create an app. Name it TailorTalk, paste the server URL https://api.tailortalk.ai/mcp and choose OAuth for authentication.
  3. ChatGPT opens TailorTalk so you can sign in (Step 2).
  4. To use it in a chat, choose Developer mode from the + menu and select TailorTalk.

Claude Code

Run this in your terminal:

claude mcp add --transport http --scope user tailortalk https://api.tailortalk.ai/mcp

Then start claude, type /mcp, choose tailortalk and select Authenticate. Your browser opens TailorTalk so you can sign in (Step 2).

Other AI Apps

Any app that supports remote MCP servers with OAuth sign-in can connect. In its settings, add a remote (HTTP) MCP server with the URL https://api.tailortalk.ai/mcp, then sign in when it asks.

Step 2: Sign In and Allow Access

The app sends you to the TailorTalk dashboard in your browser.

  1. Sign in with the TailorTalk account whose data you want the assistant to read. If you're already signed in, this step is skipped.
  2. TailorTalk asks Connect [app] to TailorTalk? and shows the email the app will read as. Check that both are what you expect.
  3. Click Allow. You're sent back to the app, which is now connected.

Click Cancel instead if you didn't start connecting this app yourself. You have 10 minutes to allow the app; after that, start connecting again from the app.

Step 3: Ask About Your Account

Ask in your own words. For example:

  • "List my TailorTalk agents."
  • "Show the hot leads on my WhatsApp agent from this week, and what each of them wants."
  • "Read the latest conversations on my Instagram agent and tell me what people ask most."
  • "How many messages failed in yesterday's broadcast, and why?"
  • "Show my agent's prompt and suggest how to improve it."
  • "Are my webhooks failing?"
  • "How do I connect my Shopify store to TailorTalk?"

If you're in more than one organization, or an organization has several agents, name the one you mean.

In Claude, check that TailorTalk is turned on for the chat: click + at the bottom left of the chat, open Connectors and switch TailorTalk on.

Who Sees What

The assistant reads as you. It sees the organizations you see on your dashboard, the ones you created or were added to as a collaborator, whatever your role in them. If you're removed from an organization, the assistant loses access to it straight away.

Staying Connected and Disconnecting

You stay connected: the app renews its access in the background. If an app doesn't use TailorTalk for 90 days, connect it again.

To disconnect, remove TailorTalk from the app:

  • Claude: open Customize > Connectors, click the three dots next to TailorTalk and choose Remove.
  • ChatGPT: delete the TailorTalk app from ChatGPT's apps.
  • Claude Code: run claude mcp remove tailortalk --scope user.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can the assistant send messages or change my agents?

No. It can only read your data. It can't send messages to your leads, change your agents or update anything else.

Does the app see my TailorTalk password?

No. You sign in on TailorTalk's own page, and the app gets a key that can only read what your account can see. What the assistant reads is shared with the AI app you connected, like anything else you share with it in a chat, under that app's privacy terms.

It says "Verify your email address to connect an app to your account". What do I do?

Connecting needs a verified email address. If you sign in to TailorTalk with Google, your email is already verified. If you sign in with an email and password, contact TailorTalk support.

It says "This connection request has expired". What do I do?

You have 10 minutes to click Allow. Start connecting again from the app.

The assistant doesn't find my organization or agents. Why?

It reads as the account you signed in with in Step 2. If your organization belongs to a different email, disconnect the app and connect it again while signed in to TailorTalk with that email, or ask the organization's owner to add you as a collaborator.
