The WhatsApp automation market is crowded, but most businesses are not really choosing between equal alternatives. Some products are built for broadcasts. Some are shared inbox tools. Some are flow builders. A much smaller set are actually designed to qualify leads, follow up, and keep conversations moving until a human needs to step in.
This guide compares five WhatsApp automation tools through that lens: what each one costs today, what Meta charges on top for every message, what you pay to get AI replies, and which tool fits an online store or fashion brand that sells in WhatsApp chats.
Speed is why the choice matters. In a study of 1.25 million sales leads, Harvard Business Review found that firms that tried to contact a lead within an hour were nearly seven times as likely to qualify it as firms that waited even an hour longer. A WhatsApp message from a buyer is a lead too, and it goes cold just as fast.
Quick answer: TailorTalk is the best WhatsApp automation tool for businesses that sell in the chat, especially ecommerce and fashion brands that need product, size and stock questions answered and paid for in WhatsApp, with AI included in the plan. WATI is the best all-round team inbox, Interakt is the best value for Shopify stores in India, AiSensy is the cheapest way to start, with a free plan, and is built around broadcasts, and Gallabox suits teams that want to build their own flows.
Disclosure: TailorTalk is our product, so weigh our pick accordingly. Every other tool's prices and features below come from its own pricing and help pages, and Meta's fees from Meta's developer documentation, all checked in October 2026. Prices are per month in US dollars, billed monthly, unless we say otherwise.
Who this comparison is for
- SMBs using WhatsApp for sales, bookings, or lead follow-up
- Online stores and fashion brands whose customers ask about price, size, stock and delivery on WhatsApp before they order
- Teams comparing campaign tools with AI-driven qualification and follow-up
- Businesses that need a WhatsApp integration with more than broadcasts and template sends
How we evaluated the tools
We compared the tools on what matters when WhatsApp is part of how you sell, using each vendor's own pricing and help pages rather than feature counts.
- Campaign depth: templates, sequencing, and control
- AI conversation depth after the first reply
- Lead qualification and handoff quality
- Setup complexity for SMB teams
- Whether the tool feels like a sales system or just a messaging utility
- Total price: the plan, any AI or Shopify add-on, and how the tool bills Meta's per-message fees
Quick ranking snapshot
- TailorTalk: best for selling in the chat, with AI replies that know your stock, sizes and prices included in the plan (WhatsApp from $112)

- Interakt: best value for Shopify stores in India, with WhatsApp and Instagram on one plan (from $55)
- AiSensy: cheapest way to start, with a free plan, and best for broadcast campaigns (paid from $45)
- Gallabox: best for teams that want to draw their own flows, billed quarterly or yearly (from $150 a month, billed quarterly)
WhatsApp automation tools compared
The headline price is only part of the bill. Check three more things: what the cheapest plan with WhatsApp actually includes, whether AI replies cost extra, and how the tool charges for Meta's per-message fees.
| Tool | Cheapest plan with WhatsApp | AI replies on WhatsApp | Meta message fees | Shopify on WhatsApp | Free plan or trial |
| TailorTalk | $112/month ($89 billed yearly): 1,600 conversations, WhatsApp, Instagram and website chat | Included in every plan | Billed by Meta to your own WhatsApp account | Live catalog, stock and sizes; order updates to customers who have messaged you | 7-day free trial |
| WATI | $69/month ($59 billed yearly): 3 users, 1 channel | Astra AI agents, a separate add-on; Astra plans with WhatsApp from $99/month | Charged on top at WATI's own rate card | Abandoned-cart and order templates with the $4.99/month Shopify add-on | 7-day free trial |
| Interakt | $55/month (Growth, WhatsApp and Instagram); Starter with WhatsApp $69/quarter | AI Agents add-on, $74.99/month on Growth and Advanced (100 AI messages, then $0.011 each) | Charged on top at Interakt's rates, which fall on higher plans | Through its Shopify app plans ($21 to $99/month): order updates, abandoned checkout, COD-to-prepaid | Free trial |
| AiSensy | Free plan (no broadcasts); Basic $45/month | AI Chat Agent add-on, $50/month for 1,000 AI messages | Prepaid message credits, charged on top | Order, shipping and abandoned-cart messages from the Basic plan | Free Forever plan |
| Gallabox | $150/month billed quarterly ($112 billed yearly): 3 users | AI agents on WhatsApp from the Essential plan ($331/month billed quarterly) | Meta's fees "with our markup" | Shopify notifications and cart recovery, a $5/month add-on | 7-day free trial |
Interakt, AiSensy and Gallabox also publish prices in rupees for India: Interakt Growth is ₹2,799 a month plus taxes, AiSensy Basic ₹1,500 a month, and Gallabox Basic ₹2,999 a month billed quarterly.
1. TailorTalk: best for selling in the chat, with AI included
TailorTalk ranks first when WhatsApp is part of a true sales workflow rather than just a messaging stack. It is strongest for businesses that need to reply instantly, qualify leads, continue conversations after replies, follow up automatically, and hand serious buyers to humans with context intact.
For an online store, the difference is that the agent sells from your real catalog. Connected to Shopify, it knows stock, variants and sizes, can match a photo a shopper sends to the product, and sends Stripe, PayPal or Razorpay payment links in the chat. Shopify can also trigger order confirmations and shipping updates on WhatsApp for customers who have already messaged you. The same agent also answers Instagram DMs and your website chat, so every channel gets the same answers.
Pricing: WhatsApp is included from the Growth plan, $112 a month ($89 billed yearly) for 1,600 conversations, with the AI included and no per-reply AI charge. Pro is $349 a month for 6,000 conversations. The $49 Starter plan covers Instagram and website chat only. You connect your own WhatsApp Business account through Meta's sign-up and add a payment method there, so Meta bills its message fees to you directly. There is a 7-day free trial and no free plan.
- Best for sales-led businesses that need an AI sales agent on WhatsApp
- Strong on qualification, follow-up, and conversion support after the first reply
- Less relevant if you only need a simple broadcast or shared inbox tool
2. WATI: best all-round WhatsApp team inbox
WATI is one of the best-known WhatsApp platforms because it solves familiar operational problems well: a shared inbox, templates, broadcasts, chatbot flows and team workflows. It also connects Instagram, Facebook and a website widget, though the Growth plan allows one channel.
Where WATI is weaker is when you want WhatsApp to sell on its own. Its AI agents, called Astra, are a separately priced add-on, so AI replies cost extra on top of the inbox. For Shopify stores, abandoned-cart reminders, order confirmations and shipping updates come with a $4.99 a month Shopify add-on.
Pricing: Growth is $69 a month ($59 billed yearly) with 3 users and no extra users; Pro is $149 ($119) with 5 users; Business is $349 ($279). WhatsApp messages are charged on top at WATI's own rate card. Astra's plans with WhatsApp start at $99 a month for 5,000 credits. There is a 7-day free trial.
- Best for WhatsApp-centric teams with inbox and template workflow needs
- Strong for team operations and business messaging coverage
- Weaker if your priority is autonomous follow-up and qualification

3. Interakt: best value for Shopify stores in India
Interakt, from Jio Haptik, is a WhatsApp-first platform popular with direct-to-consumer brands in India. Its Growth plan covers both WhatsApp and Instagram with unlimited agents and contacts. Through its Shopify app it sends order updates and abandoned-checkout reminders, and on Growth and above it adds win-back messages, catalog sync and a COD-to-prepaid flow for cash-on-delivery orders.
Its tradeoff is that AI is an add-on. The WhatsApp AI Agents add-on runs a sales, a lead qualification and a support agent, but it costs $74.99 a month on top of Growth or Advanced and includes 100 AI messages, then $0.011 for each one after that. For a busy store, 100 AI messages is a small allowance.
Pricing: Growth is $55 a month and Advanced $69, or ₹2,799 and ₹3,799 a month plus taxes in India. The cheapest Starter plan is Instagram-only on monthly billing; with WhatsApp it costs $69 a quarter or $239 a year. Shopify features come through Interakt's Shopify app, priced from $21 to $99 a month with a 14-day free trial. WhatsApp messages are charged on top at Interakt's rates, which are lower on higher plans.
- Best for commerce teams that want a practical WhatsApp-first operating stack
- Useful for messaging-led day-to-day business operations
- Less complete for businesses treating WhatsApp as an AI-driven conversion engine
Comparing the two directly? See TailorTalk vs Interakt.
4. AiSensy: cheapest way to start, and best for broadcasts
AiSensy is strongest for marketers who care about campaigns, broadcasts and click-to-WhatsApp ads. It is also the only tool here with a free plan: the Free Forever plan gives you WhatsApp Business API access, a live chat dashboard, template messages and a click-to-WhatsApp ads manager, but no broadcasts. Shopify and WooCommerce order, shipping and abandoned-cart messages start on the Basic plan.
That also explains why it ranks lower for selling in the chat. Its keyword chatbot flows and its AI Chat Agent are both add-ons, bought separately on top of any paid plan. We also found no Instagram DM automation, so it is a WhatsApp-only choice.
Pricing: Basic is $45 a month and Pro $99 (₹1,500 and ₹3,200 in India), with 10% off yearly. The AI Chat Agent adds $50 a month for 1,000 AI messages, and Chatbot Flows $80 a month. WhatsApp messages are paid from prepaid credits, managed separately from the plan.
- Best for campaign-minded users and broadcast-heavy workflows
- Useful when outbound messaging is the main priority
- Weak fit when inbound replies and qualification are the real bottleneck
Comparing the two directly? See TailorTalk vs AiSensy.
5. Gallabox: best for teams that build their own flows
Gallabox is a solid choice for teams that like inbox management and structured flow-building. It appeals to buyers who want to draw and control the logic themselves rather than leaning on a more autonomous AI approach.
That works well for rule-based workflows, but it becomes more fragile when customers ask unexpected questions in the middle of a sales conversation or when the team wants follow-up to feel more adaptive and less scripted.
Gallabox has added AI, but by plan: Basic gets AI agents for the web only, and AI agents on WhatsApp and Instagram start on the Essential plan, metered in AI credits (2,000 a month). Shopify notifications and cart recovery are a $5 a month add-on on every plan.
Pricing: Gallabox bills quarterly or yearly, with no monthly option. Basic is $150 a month billed quarterly ($112 billed yearly) with 3 users; Essential is $331 ($248). Gallabox says Meta's message fees appear on your invoice "with our markup". There is a 7-day free trial and no free plan.
- Best for flow-builder users and structured inbox automation
- Useful when the team wants high manual control over the conversation map
- Less attractive when open-ended buyer questions are common

Also worth a look
- Spur: a budget pick for Shopify brands that sell on Instagram and WhatsApp. WhatsApp automation and the Shopify integration start on the AI Start plan, $31 a month billed yearly, with a 7-day free trial.
- respond.io: for larger teams that want every channel, from WhatsApp to TikTok and email, in one inbox. Starter is $99 a month ($79 billed yearly), and workflows and AI agents start on Growth at $199 ($159). See TailorTalk vs respond.io.
What WhatsApp automation really costs: the plan plus Meta's fees
Every tool on this list sends messages through Meta's WhatsApp Business Platform, and Meta charges for messages businesses send, not for messages customers send you. Since 1 July 2025 Meta charges per delivered message, by type and by the customer's country.
Meta changed the rules again on 1 October 2026, and many pricing pages have not caught up. Replies a business sends inside the 24-hour customer service window, which Meta calls service messages, used to be free. Each business phone number now gets 1,000 free service messages a month, and Meta charges for every one after that. Utility templates sent inside the window, such as an order confirmation, are charged again too.
Meta's list rates, in US dollars per delivered message, from 1 October 2026:
| Customer's country | Marketing message | Utility message | Reply in the 24-hour window |
| United States and Canada | $0.025 | $0.0034 | $0.0034 |
| United Kingdom | $0.0635 | $0.022 | $0.022 |
| United Arab Emirates | $0.0576 | $0.0157 | $0.0157 |
| Saudi Arabia | $0.0576 | $0.0107 | $0.0107 |
| Singapore | $0.0732 | $0.016 | $0.016 |
| India | $0.0118 | $0.0014 | $0.0014 |
Why this matters for automation: an AI agent writes a lot of replies. An agent that handles 1,600 conversations a month and sends about four replies in each sends roughly 6,400 service messages. After the first 1,000, a UK number would pay Meta about 5,400 × $0.022, or roughly $119 a month, and a US number about $18. A new-collection broadcast to 2,000 UK customers costs about 2,000 × $0.0635, or $127, before any markup.
Two ways to pay less. When someone messages you from a click-to-WhatsApp ad on their phone and you reply within the window, Meta opens a free entry point window of up to 7 days in which it does not charge for your messages. And it pays to check how your tool bills the fees: some pass on Meta's rates, others charge their own, higher rates.
- TailorTalk: you connect your own WhatsApp Business account and Meta bills you directly.
- WATI: charges messages at its own rate card.
- Interakt: charges its own per-message rates, lower on higher plans (a US marketing message is $0.028 against Meta's $0.025).
- AiSensy: prepaid message credits, recharged separately from the plan.
- Gallabox: Meta's fees "with our markup".
Meta also sells its own AI agent for WhatsApp, the Meta Business Agent, charged at $2 per million tokens. Meta puts that at about 4 to 5 cents a message, and it is charged even inside the free entry point window.
WhatsApp rules every automation tool has to follow
- The 24-hour window: when a customer messages you, a 24-hour customer service window opens, and it resets each time they write again. Inside it you can send any message. Outside it, you can only send a template message.
- Templates for everything else: order updates, abandoned-cart reminders and broadcasts go out as templates, charged at the utility or marketing rate above.
- Meta's AI rule: since 15 January 2026, Meta's terms bar providers of general-purpose AI assistants from using the WhatsApp Business Platform when the AI is the main thing they offer. Meta told TechCrunch the change does not affect businesses that use AI to serve their own customers, which is what every tool on this list does.
In practice, be wary of any tool that promises messaging with no Meta fees, cold messages to people who never contacted you, or a ChatGPT-style assistant open to anyone. None of these fit how the official platform works.
Which WhatsApp automation tool is best for an online store or fashion brand?
Selling clothes on WhatsApp is a different job from sending broadcasts. A shopper's message is usually a question about one item, and the brand that answers it first, with the right size and a way to pay, usually gets the order. Here is what shoppers send and what a tool needs to do with it.
| What the shopper sends | What the tool needs to do | Which tools do it |
| A screenshot from Instagram: "Do you have this in M?" | Find the product from the photo and check stock in that size | TailorTalk matches the photo to your catalog and reads live Shopify stock; with the others, a person or a hand-built flow answers |
| "How much with delivery to Dubai?" | Answer from your catalog and shipping rules | Any of the five with AI switched on (an add-on on WATI, Interakt and AiSensy; Essential plan and up on Gallabox; included on TailorTalk) |
| "OK, how do I pay?" | Send a payment link in the chat | TailorTalk sends Stripe, PayPal or Razorpay links |
| Nothing: they left items in the cart | Send an abandoned-cart reminder | WATI (Shopify add-on), Interakt (Shopify app), AiSensy (Basic), Gallabox (Shopify add-on); TailorTalk for customers who have already messaged you |
| "Where is my order?" | Send order and shipping updates from Shopify | All five |
| A cash-on-delivery order in India | Confirm the order and offer to switch to prepaid | Interakt has a COD-to-prepaid flow on Growth and up |
For the fashion side of the decision, see how clothing brands sell on WhatsApp, how to connect Shopify to WhatsApp, and how to get Google reviews from WhatsApp customers once the order arrives. If your buyers start on Instagram, compare the best Instagram automation tools too.
Why TailorTalk ranks first for sales-led businesses
TailorTalk ranks first when WhatsApp is part of an end-to-end revenue workflow. It is stronger for businesses that need AI to reply instantly, qualify leads, continue the conversation after a reply, follow up when the lead goes silent, and hand over cleanly when a human needs to close. That is not the same job as a broadcast platform or a team inbox.
It also keeps the cost simple: the AI is part of the plan rather than an add-on metered per AI message, and Meta bills its message fees to your own account. On TailorTalk's capabilities page, 78.2% of conversations are resolved without a person stepping in.
That difference becomes especially clear in workflows like click-to-WhatsApp ads, campaign replies, booking inquiries, and high-volume lead capture. If your main success metric is not just “messages sent” but “qualified conversations created,” the category changes.
If you manage your WhatsApp chats from Claude or ChatGPT, TailorTalk also has an MCP server: connect it once and ask your AI assistant about leads, conversations and broadcasts, or have it reply to a customer. Our guide to WhatsApp MCP compares it with the WhatsApp Web bridges that can get a number banned.
Where the other tools fit best
WATI and Interakt are well known because they solve familiar WhatsApp business problems: inboxes, templates, team workflows and Shopify notifications. AiSensy is the cheapest place to start and the strongest for campaigns. Gallabox works well when a team wants to build its own flows. None of that makes them bad products. It just means you need to match the tool to the job, and to add up the plan, the AI add-on and the message fees before you compare prices.
How to choose the right WhatsApp automation tool
- Choose TailorTalk if you sell in the chat and want AI that knows your products, sizes and stock, with the AI included in the plan
- Choose AiSensy if your center of gravity is broadcasts and you want to start on a free plan
- Choose WATI if your team mainly needs a shared inbox, templates and Shopify notifications; choose Interakt for the same in India, with cash-on-delivery flows
- Choose Gallabox if you want to draw your own flows and can pay quarterly or yearly
The most expensive mistake is buying for the wrong job. Many businesses ask for a WhatsApp automation tool when what they actually need is a system that can handle replies from campaigns, ads, and inbound leads all the way through qualification and handoff.
What businesses often get wrong
- They buy a broadcast tool when they actually need reply handling and follow-up
- They optimize for template sending instead of qualification quality
- They confuse a WhatsApp inbox with a WhatsApp sales workflow
- They ignore what should happen after someone replies to a campaign or ad
- They compare plan prices and forget the AI add-on and Meta's message fees, which since October 2026 include replies in the 24-hour window
What matters most in 2026
Businesses in 2026 are getting more disciplined about WhatsApp ROI. The tool that wins is usually not the one with the most dashboard features. It is the one that best connects acquisition, conversation, qualification, follow-up, and human handoff. That is why the category is shifting from messaging software toward true AI sales systems.
Check two more things before you buy. Whether the tool can hand a conversation to a person with the context attached: in Gartner's 2026 survey, 87 percent of customers said companies using generative AI for customer service must give them access to a human agent. And whether it answers the ads that bring people in: Meta's click-to-message ads open a WhatsApp chat instead of a form.
If you are evaluating vendor proof, our WhatsApp automation reviews page and the WATI alternative page make the tradeoffs easier to compare. That is especially useful when your business cares about real sales outcomes instead of only message volume.
FAQs
What is the best WhatsApp automation tool for business in 2026?
For businesses that sell in the chat, especially online stores and fashion brands, TailorTalk is the strongest fit: its AI answers product, size and stock questions from your catalog, sends payment links and follows up, with the AI included in the plan. WATI is a strong all-round team inbox, Interakt is good value for Shopify stores in India, AiSensy is the cheapest start with a free plan, and Gallabox suits teams that build their own flows.
How much does WhatsApp automation cost?
Add three things. The plan: from $45 a month on AiSensy, $55 on Interakt (or $69 a quarter for its one-channel Starter), $69 on WATI, $112 on TailorTalk (with AI included) and $150 a month billed quarterly on Gallabox. The AI add-on, if the tool charges one: $50 to $99 a month on AiSensy, Interakt and WATI. And Meta's message fees, charged per delivered message by country: a marketing message costs $0.025 in the US and $0.0635 in the UK at Meta's list rates, and some tools charge more.
Are WhatsApp replies still free?
Not all of them. From 1 October 2026, Meta gives each business phone number 1,000 free service messages a month (replies inside the 24-hour customer service window) and charges for each one after that, for example $0.0034 in the US and $0.022 in the UK. Messages customers send you are still free, and replies to people who came from a click-to-WhatsApp ad are free for up to 7 days.
Is there a free WhatsApp automation tool?
AiSensy has a Free Forever plan with WhatsApp Business API access, a live chat dashboard and template messages, but no broadcasts, and Meta's message fees still apply. TailorTalk, WATI and Gallabox offer 7-day free trials instead, and Interakt offers a free trial.
Can I use an AI chatbot on WhatsApp in 2026?
Yes, for your own business. Since 15 January 2026 Meta's terms bar providers of general-purpose AI assistants from the WhatsApp Business Platform when the AI is their main product, but Meta has said this does not affect businesses using AI to serve their customers, such as an AI agent that answers questions about your products and orders.
Are WhatsApp automation tools only for campaigns?
No. They can also be used for inbound questions, lead qualification, bookings, click-to-WhatsApp ads, order updates and follow-up after a reply. Campaigns are only one part of the picture.
What should I compare besides pricing?
Compare what happens after the first message: whether the tool answers open questions from your real catalog, how it qualifies and follows up, how it hands over to a person, and whether AI replies and Shopify features are included or sold as add-ons.
Do I need a separate WhatsApp tool if I already have a website chat widget?
Often yes, because WhatsApp and website chat serve different roles. Website chat captures intent on-site, while WhatsApp often becomes the persistent conversation channel where follow-up and conversion continue.
