A clothing brand runs on a handful of jobs that repeat every week: answering "is this available in M?" in the DMs, shooting and describing every new piece, helping shoppers pick the right size, emailing past customers, and deciding how many units to reorder. AI tools now take a real share of each of those jobs, and most of them cost less a month than one photoshoot.
This list picks one tool for each job a clothing label, boutique or D2C apparel brand actually has, with the price on each vendor's own website as of 16 October 2026. We make TailorTalk, the first tool on the list; every other tool is one we don't sell or earn from. Only one tool here, Heuritech, has no public price list, and we say so in its section.

Where AI pays off first for a clothing brand
McKinsey estimates that generative AI could add $150 billion, conservatively, and up to $275 billion to the operating profits of the apparel, fashion and luxury sectors within three to five years, and expects the quickest wins in product innovation, marketing, and sales and customer experience. For a small brand that translates into three places to start.
- Customer conversations. Most clothing purchases on Instagram and WhatsApp start with a question about size, stock, colour or delivery. Speed matters: in Harvard Business Review's study of online sales leads, firms that responded within an hour were nearly seven times as likely to qualify the lead as firms that waited even an hour longer.
- Product content. Every new drop needs photos on a model, clean backgrounds and descriptions. AI cuts the cost of each piece without a studio day.
- Fit and returns. In McKinsey's survey of North American apparel retailers, poor fit or style caused about 70 percent of returns, so size guidance before the sale saves money after it.
Trend forecasting comes later for most small labels: it helps plan a collection, but it doesn't sell anything on its own.
1. TailorTalk: sell and answer customers in Instagram DMs, WhatsApp and website chat
TailorTalk is an AI sales agent built first for fashion brands. It answers the messages that arrive on Instagram, WhatsApp and your website around the clock: size, stock, colour, price and delivery questions, from your live product catalogue. It recommends pieces that are in stock, finds the closest product when a shopper sends a photo or a screenshot, and sends a payment link so the order closes inside the chat.
- Shopify sync: products, variants, sizes and stock come from your store, so the agent never offers a size you have sold out of.
- Instagram: replies to DMs and turns comments on your posts into DM conversations.
- WhatsApp: replies on your WhatsApp Business number, plus order confirmations and shipping updates to customers who already messaged you. Meta bills its message fees to your own account.
- Hands the conversation to your team, with the full chat, when a person is needed.
TailorTalk's AI Catalog app also includes Studio, which turns flat lays, hanger and mannequin photos into front, back, detail and side views on a model without any prompt writing, and the sales agent can show a shopper a virtual try-on preview inside the chat (in beta). Our guide to AI model photoshoots explains how Studio keeps embroidery and borders intact.
Results: 78.2% of conversations are resolved without a person stepping in. Saree retailer Samyakk uses it for more than 1,000 Instagram inquiries a day, and Mysore Saree Udyog handles more than 8,500 leads a month across WhatsApp and Instagram.
Price: Starter is $49 a month ($39 billed yearly) for 400 conversations on Instagram and website chat. Growth, at $112 a month ($89 yearly), adds WhatsApp and 1,600 conversations. Pro is $349 a month for 6,000. There is a 7-day free trial and no free plan.
Best for: brands that sell through DMs and WhatsApp, where every unanswered question is a lost sale. Watch out for: it answers from your catalogue, so products need sizes and stock filled in on your store. To compare it with other chat tools, see our roundups of Instagram DM tools for fashion brands and AI chatbots for Shopify.
2. Shopify Sidekick: product descriptions, photo edits and a store assistant
If your store runs on Shopify, you already have an AI assistant. Sidekick lives in the Shopify admin and writes product descriptions, store pages, blog posts and emails, removes or replaces image backgrounds in the media editor, suggests alt text, and carries out admin tasks you ask for in everyday language.
Price: included with your Shopify plan at no extra cost, though Shopify says features and usage limits vary by plan. Shopify Basic is $39 a month, or $29 billed yearly, after a 3-day free trial.
Best for: every Shopify clothing brand, as the first AI tool to switch on. Watch out for: descriptions come out generic unless you give it fabric, fit and care details, and Shopify itself warns that AI output can contain errors, so read every description before it goes live.
3. Photoroom: clean product photos, ghost mannequin and AI models
Photoroom turns phone photos into catalogue images. For clothing it removes backgrounds and hangers, creates ghost-mannequin shots that show a garment's shape, applies brand templates across a whole collection, and puts products on AI fashion models.
Price: Pro is $12.99 a month, or $7.50 billed yearly, with 8,000 AI credits and 1,000 exports a month. The Shopify integration, which imports products and sends finished images back, starts on Max at $34.99 a month ($20.99 yearly). There is a free trial.
Best for: small brands that shoot their own products and need a consistent catalogue look. Watch out for: Pro makes AI fashion-model images only at 1K resolution; 2K and 4K need a higher plan.
4. Botika: on-model photos from flat lays
Botika is built only for fashion. You upload flat lays, hanger shots or ghost-mannequin photos, and it returns the garment on an AI model, chosen from more than 150 models across body types, skin tones and markets, in about 15 minutes. It also makes short videos.
Price: Pro is $55 a month for 50 credits, or $46 a month billed yearly for 600 credits a year. Each photo costs 1 credit and each video 5, so a photo works out at about $1.10 on the monthly plan. Unused credits roll over while you stay subscribed. There is a free trial.
Best for: brands launching many styles a season that can't book a model for each one. Watch out for: Pro has a limited set of models and backgrounds and 2K resolution; all models and 4K need Advanced at $120 a month. Botika's Shopify app is not currently available. If you sell ethnic wear, check fine work such as zari and embroidery on every image: it is the hardest test for any AI model tool.
5. FASHN: virtual try-on, AI models and fashion videos
FASHN runs its own virtual try-on model alongside general image and video models. It puts garments on AI models, swaps models, turns flat lays and ghost-mannequin photos into on-model images, and makes short fashion videos, all paid with one pool of credits.
Price: Basic is $19 a month, or $16 billed yearly, with 200 credits a month, and most tools start at 1 credit per image. New accounts get 10 free credits without a card. Payments are non-refundable.
Best for: brands that want try-on and model images without a big monthly bill. Watch out for: there is no Shopify app, so a try-on button for shoppers on your store needs a developer to connect FASHN's API. Our guide to virtual try-on for fashion brands explains where try-on helps sales and where it doesn't.
6. Kiwi Sizing: size charts and size recommendations
Kiwi Sizing adds size charts and a size recommender to a Shopify store. It imports charts from images, product descriptions or a spreadsheet, applies them to whole collections, switches between centimetres and inches by the shopper's location, and suggests a size from a few details the shopper enters.
Price: a free plan covers 3 size charts with a Kiwi watermark. Premium is $7.99 a month for 10 charts. The size recommender starts on Plus at $14.99 a month, which adds a fee as your orders grow. Paid plans have a 14-day free trial. It is rated 4.7 on the Shopify App Store from more than 1,200 reviews.
Best for: any clothing brand whose returns come from fit. Watch out for: it works on Shopify only. A size chart answers the shopper on the product page, while many size questions arrive in DMs; our guide to fashion product recommendation chatbots covers giving size and fit advice in chat.
7. Klaviyo: email and SMS with AI segments and copy
Klaviyo is the email and SMS platform many Shopify fashion brands already use for launches, back-in-stock alerts and abandoned carts. Its AI, K:AI, generates subject lines, segments, content and images, predicts each customer's lifetime value and churn risk, and offers Composer, which drafts a whole campaign from a goal. Its Customer Agent answers customers' questions about their orders; the first 50 AI resolutions are free.
Price: free for up to 250 profiles and 500 emails a month. Email starts at $20 a month for 251 to 500 profiles and 5,000 sends, and the price rises with your list. Klaviyo's Shopify App Store listing gives SMS from $15 a month for 1,250 credits. It is rated 4.7 from more than 3,300 reviews.
Best for: brands with a growing customer list who want repeat purchases. Watch out for: the bill follows your active profiles, so clean out old contacts, and sending stops on the free plan once you hit its limit.
8. Prediko: AI demand forecasting and purchase orders
Prediko forecasts demand from your Shopify sales, warns you before stock runs low or overstock builds up, and drafts purchase orders, with a 12-month purchase-order calendar. It also tracks raw materials and bills of materials for brands that make their own garments, and moves stock between locations.
Price: Starter is $49 a month, or $42 on an annual plan, for stores with under $100,000 in yearly revenue, with every feature and unlimited users and SKUs. It rises to $119 a month up to $500,000. There is a 14-day free trial and no free plan. It is rated 4.9 on the Shopify App Store.
Best for: brands reordering many sizes and colours, where running out of one size loses sales. Watch out for: a forecast is only as good as your sales history, so a brand in its first season gets less from it. Our guide to garment shop inventory management covers the basics before you add software.
9. Heuritech: trend forecasting for bigger labels
Heuritech reads millions of social media images from Instagram, TikTok and Xiaohongshu with computer vision, detects more than 2,000 product attributes such as colours, prints, shapes and fabrics, and forecasts how each will be adopted in each market up to 24 months ahead. Its clients include Adidas, New Balance, Dior, Prada and Moncler, and the Gulf retailer Chalhoub.
Price: on request. Heuritech says its prices start at a few thousand euros a month, and its smallest plan covers one category in one region. There is no self-serve trial; you book a demo.
Best for: established labels planning collections a season or more ahead. Watch out for: it is beyond the budget of most small brands, which can follow trends more cheaply by watching what customers ask for in their own DMs.
Which AI tools should a small clothing brand start with?
You don't need ten tools. Start with the job that costs you the most time or the most sales today, then add one tool at a time and measure it for a month.
| Your stage | Start with | Rough monthly cost |
| Just launched, selling through Instagram DMs | Shopify Sidekick (included with Shopify), Photoroom Pro, TailorTalk Starter | About $62 plus Shopify |
| Growing D2C label on Shopify with WhatsApp orders | TailorTalk Growth, Klaviyo, Kiwi Sizing Plus | About $150 plus Shopify and usage fees |
| Established brand with seasonal drops | Add Botika or FASHN for on-model images and Prediko for reorders | From about $70 more; credits and revenue tiers decide the rest |
| Label selling across several markets | Add Heuritech to plan collections by region | On request, from a few thousand euros a month |
If your customers already message you on Instagram or WhatsApp, the chat is usually the quickest win, because every unanswered question is a sale that goes to another brand. Our guides to selling clothes on Instagram without a website and to WhatsApp sales for clothing brands show how that conversation turns into an order.
What to check before you add an AI tool
- Does it work with your store? Most tools here connect to Shopify; check the app listing before you sign up.
- Who owns the output? Check that you can use AI-generated images and text commercially, and that the tool doesn't claim rights over your product photos.
- What happens at volume? Credit-based tools get expensive fast during a drop. Work out the cost for your busiest month, not your quietest.
- Can a person step in? For anything a customer sees, from a reply in the DMs to a product description, make sure someone on your team can review it and take over.
Frequently asked questions
What AI tools do clothing brands use?
Clothing brands use AI for five main jobs: answering customers in Instagram DMs, WhatsApp and website chat (TailorTalk), product photos and on-model images (Photoroom, Botika, FASHN), product descriptions (Shopify Sidekick), size recommendations (Kiwi Sizing), email and SMS marketing (Klaviyo) and inventory forecasting (Prediko). Larger labels add trend forecasting such as Heuritech.
Can AI answer customer DMs for my clothing brand?
Yes. An AI sales agent such as TailorTalk connects to your Instagram account, WhatsApp Business number and website chat, answers questions about size, stock, price and delivery from your live catalogue, recommends products, finds items from a photo the shopper sends and sends a payment link. It hands the chat to your team when a person is needed. TailorTalk starts at $49 a month for Instagram and website chat; WhatsApp is included from $112 a month.
Is there a free AI tool for clothing brands?
Yes, a few. Shopify's Sidekick is included with every Shopify plan and writes product descriptions and edits photos. Klaviyo is free for up to 250 profiles and 500 emails a month, Kiwi Sizing has a free plan with 3 size charts, and FASHN gives new accounts 10 free credits. Most other tools offer a free trial rather than a free plan.
Can AI replace a product photoshoot for a clothing brand?
For catalogue images, often yes. Tools such as TailorTalk Studio, Botika, FASHN and Photoroom turn flat lays and ghost-mannequin photos into on-model images; on the paid plans of FASHN and Botika that is roughly $0.10 to $1.10 per image. Keep a real shoot for hero campaign images, and check every AI image against the garment so colours, prints and details match what the customer receives.
What is the best AI tool for size recommendations?
For a Shopify store, Kiwi Sizing is a simple start: size charts from $7.99 a month and an AI size recommender from $14.99 a month. Many size questions arrive in DMs and on WhatsApp instead, where an AI sales agent such as TailorTalk answers from your size chart and live stock.
How much does AI cost for a small clothing brand?
A small brand can start for under $100 a month on top of Shopify: Sidekick is included with Shopify, Photoroom and the entry plans of the size and email tools cost $20 a month or less, and TailorTalk's Starter plan for Instagram and website chat is $49 a month. Image generators and forecasting tools cost more as your catalogue grows.
